Common Pool Equipment Problems & Solutions

Unfortunately, nearly every swimming pool equipment installation in Houston will have a few problems that need better solutions.

For starters, as your pool equipment begins to age, it’s unfortunately going to break down eventually. And when this happens, maintenance is required.

Generally speaking, there are certain pool problems that happen more often than others. We will take a look at the most common problems and offer valid solutions.

Improving Flow Restrictions

Flow restrictions are more common than any other pool equipment problem in Spring that you could potentially encounter.

While this isn’t necessarily a devastating problem, it can hurt the longevity of your equipment and create major system inefficiencies.

To improve flow restriction, you can slow down your water by installing larger suction line pipes.

It’s also important to choose fittings that will not cause friction loss. Avoid using street elbows, and instead use sweep elbows when possible.

Detecting Potential Leaks and Failing Pipes

Leaks and failing pipes are a problem because they should be something that’s totally avoidable with your pool. But they do happen from time to time.

To solve potential leaks and pipe failures, there are a few things Spring TX Pool & Spa owners can do to fix this problem quickly.

If you have a leak, you can take a shortcut and hopefully fix it by using an epoxy. This is more of a short-term solution than anything else.

If your pipes and fittings are leaking because they are cracked and broken, it’s in your best interest to replace them entirely immediately upon detection.

Otherwise you may have a major swimming pool system failure.

Detecting Lack of Bonding for Equipment

If you have swimming pool equipment containing metal, it needs to be bonded.

So, if this is slowly becoming a problem for you, you should take some time to inspect your heater, pump, and if it’s a saltwater pool you should inspect the control panel to make sure that they are properly bonded.

If not, locate the empty bonding wire and connect it. If you do not how to do this yourself, call a qualified professional electrician to take care of this for you.
